I rushed down stairs to the Christmas tree this morning to check my advent calendar…well actually we set up the tree this morning and when the kid went down for a nap I finally had a chance to check out my super duper wicked cool craft crossing beer advent calendar that my awesome wife gave me. I’m a tad bit excited for this.
So I pushed open the cardboard cut out for station number one ( it’s train themed) and pulled out my first beer of the season. It is from Parallel 49 and is called “Rock the Bells Cranberry Sour Ale”. I did not make the excited face. I have yet to find a sour beer that I like. Looking forward to when the sour fad fades away. Regardless I’m excited to give this a try and perhaps find one I like. Beer got put in the fridge and I’ll be giving it a try later tonight.
So I cracked it open tonight. It is a lovely dark red of a colour and to me that is where the positives end. First sip is a definitive taste of bitter cranberry, I don’t like cranberries. Then it is just sour. Sour beers are bad, they will never be good.
2 out of 10, instead of 1, because it reminds me of cranberry sauce for just a split second.
I’m looking forward to the taste sensations of tomorrow’s beer.
